Skagit Flats
The Skagit and Samish Flats are a birder's paradise, especially in winter when the roads are low-traffic and lots of migratory visitors show up.Highlights:
If you go:
Be nice to the neighbors! Watch for cyclists in nice weather and pull well over to the side of the road if you stop - these are working farm roads.
If you want to park and walk around, check out the Skagit Wildlife Area or Bay View State Park (both have bathrooms). Both of these places require a parking permit.
If you get hungry, check out the Breadfarm bakery in the tiny town of Edison. Yum!
